How do I distribute my songs on mayk.it? As a community member, you will earn gems for your engagement and involvement on mayk.it. These gems can then be exchanged for several things on the app, such as leasing your songs on streaming services for commercial distribution.
What streaming services will my song be available on? We will be distributing to all major streaming service providers: Apple Music, Spotify, TikTok, Roblox, Facebook, Amazon Music, Pandora, Audiomack, Deezer, Tidal, and more…
Who owns my song if I distribute through mayk.it? If you create an original song on mayk.it, you will be the partial owner of song, along with the producer of the beat. In this scenario, ownership will be split: 50% will go to the writer/performer of the lyrics and 50% to the producer of the music. Mayk.it (as the virtual studio & mix/mastering producer) doesn’t take any ownership of the song, but will receive 10% of the royalties that are earned to cover the studio development, voice & plugin technology, administration cost, accounting fees, promotion & distribution costs. The 10% platform fee will be split evenly by the beat producer & vocalist’s share (5% from each side).
What if I already have music on Spotify and my own artist page? If you are already published on Spotify or other major distributors, you will be able to link your mayk.it releases to your artist page as an associated artist presented by mayk.it. This is typically automated, as long as your mayk.it profile name is the same as your artist name on the streaming service. This is only the case if you already have a verified artist page.
Will I earn any streaming royalties from distributing my songs made on mayk.it? All songs that are released through mayk.it will earn streaming royalties from all of the DSP’s that the song is available on. Each artist must earn at least $100 USD across songs in order to qualify for payment disbursement. All payments will be made quarterly based on the minimum threshold being met. No earned money will be lost; it will be held in escrow until the minimum payment threshold is reached).
When I distribute my song via mayk.it, will I get an artist page automatically? All songs that are distributed via mayk.it will be available on the mayk.it artist compilation pages on streaming services and will also appear on your official artist page, if you have one. Mayk.it will not be securing individual artists pages for each release; this must be done by the artist or their representative. However, you can add your songs that are distributed by mayk.it to our own, self-created artist playlists that you can then name as you choose (e.g. Lil Boba - Best of Playlist, Lil Taco - Meme Songs vol 1., etc.)
How much does it cost or is there a cost associated with distributing on mayk.it? Our distribution will only cost you gems that you can earn by engaging and creating on the mayk.it platform.
Do I still own the master and publishing rights for my songs? Yes, as the creator and collaborator on mayk.it, you will own and maintain co-ownership of your publishing rights for your portion of the song created (e.g., 50%). In the case of remixes, the rights will be split between the writers (45% + 45% + 10% remixer).
