For music producers interested in putting music on mayk.it
Why put your beats on mayk.it? Get your beats used by over 100k creators and be heard around the world. By using our producer portal and registering you're beat there you will be in control of your beats, meaning you won’t need to search the internet for who is using your beats without the proper license or payment. This will allow you to earn royalties, commercial licensing and submit your music to streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube, Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora, SoundCloud and more! You can also submit your songs to be featured on mayk.it’s official Spotify playlists and podcast.
Who owns your uploaded beat? You remain the owner of the beat and the publishing that is uploaded to mayk.it.
Who owns the songs made with my beat? Once the beat has been used by a mayk.it creator for an original song. The song that has been created will then be owned by the producer, the creator and or creators.
Does mayk.it take any ownership of my songs? mayk.it does not take any ownership of the beats or songs created on the platform, you and the creator are the owners of the song. In the case where a song that was created on the app is qualified to be distributed on DSP’s through the mayk.it producer portal. mayk.it will administer these rights and collect, account and distribute any payments quarterly. mayk.it will take a 20% administration fee for handling these tasks.
Are the beats registered with performing rights societies? Mayk.it does not register these tracks with PRO's.Music producer that upload beats via the producer portal, will have their beats submitted under the mayk.it name for content ID and DRM for future collections of royalties.
Can I still sell the beat? Yes you can resell the beat. However, if your beat was uploaded to the platform you as the rights owner will be responsible for notifying mayk.it that the track is no longer available for use on the platform and we will remove it. If you need to remove your beat please emailcontent@mayk.it
What if my beats are already registered? In the case where your tracks have already been registered with rights societies, you will need to notify mayk.it and arrange for those tracks to be whitelisted with content ID or DRM services before they will be eligible for use on the platform.
What if my song makes money? In the case where your beat is used and is selected to be distributed to DSP’s, sold as an NFT or for commercial license use, mayk.it will cect and administer those royalty payments and distribute the earnings to all parties, including the producer and vocal creator. The splits for these royalties will be as follows: 40% beat producer, 40% vocal writer / performer and 20% mayk.it for administration, accounting and management of these duties.
How many beats can I upload? You can upload as many unsolicited beats to the mayk.it Typeform link as you want, if the beats are available for use and don’t contain any samples. There is no guarantee that the unsolicited music will be used. Our A&R representatives will notify you if any of your beats were selected.
What happens to my beats once the license has expired? Once the exclusive license has expired for the use of your beat, all rights to the track revert back to the producer and you are free to re-sell or do what you please with the beat. mayk.it will continue to collect any royalties that the songs make with those beats in perpetuity and make payments quarterly based on the splits agreed to when the song was submitted.
Will songs made on my beat be able to use the release for commercial purposes? Our distribution services can be used to distribute songs that make our top 100 songs every month or users can use their earned gems to have their song distributed to all DSP’s. All song distributed will be registered to the you and the writer(s).
Can I remove a release after it has been distributed through your Distribution service? Yes,users are able to take down their releases within our Distribution system at any time, unless there is any type of copyright infringement or mayk.it receives a takedown notice from a third party that disputes the copyright ownership of the registered creators. Notify us via our contact form to request takedown.
Which services do you distribute to through your Distribution service? mayk.it has distribution to the following DSP’s and outlets: Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Youtube Music, TikTok, Pandora, Google Play, Sonas, Rhapsody, Beatport, Napster and many others, 30+ download and streaming platforms and more!
Do I need to register my beats before uploading? You don’t need to register your beats before uploading as mayk.it will be registering all solicited beats with rights societies and DRM for digital watermarking. If you are submitting unsolicited beats to mayk.it, please keep in mind that, if the beat has been registered and has DRM watermarking, you will need to whitelist the beat in order for it to be eligible for use on mayk.it.
How long does it take for my beats to show in the app? mayk.it will make beats available on the platform once they have been registered and logged into our backend management system. This can take up to 7 to 10 days.
How do I get paid for my beats? All in-house music producers will be required to submit a monthly invoice for all music production that has been accepted by the mayk.it A&R department. Invoices will be paid no later than 30 business days from the date of receipt. mayk.it will offer two payment options: ACH bank wire or PayPal. Payment option will need to be specified on the invoice and all payment details will need to be included with the invoice.
When will I get paid? All in-house music producers will be paid monthly for their original solicited beats. The amount of payment will be addressed in the license agreement that mayk.it will require for in-house production deals. Royalty payments for songs that have been distributed to DSP’s, sold as NFT’s or licensed for commercial use will be made quarterly based on date of distribution and or sale.
Can I submit beats with uncleared samples? No beats with samples or uncleared samples will be eligible for use on mayk.it, unless sample clearance agreements are provided by the publisher.
Can I split revenue with my collaborators and do they have to be registered? All writers that should be credited for writing, music production and the song’s share splits will need to be submitted with the beat.
How do I remove my beats? All beats that are produced for mayk.it as in-house music production will be managed under the licensing agreement and can only be replaced with another similar or better beat, and all songs that were made with the beat will remain on the mayk.it platform. If there is a copyright claim, mayk.it will have the right to take all songs and the beat down.
Why was my release declined for copyright violation? This indicates that our quality control team unfortunately discovered a potential match or copyright issue that prevents us from distributing your release. This could be due (but not limited to) the following reasons.+ Your beat was distributed through another service+ Your release sounds similar to another release+ You are using material that may be at risk of being flagged at any retailer(s) + Your release contains recognizable sample + Your release has a pending copyright infringement claim. If/when your material is flagged due to any potential copyright reasons, it unfortunately cannot be distributed. Doing so can lead to potential rights-holder disputes, copyright infringement issues, and/or legality risk. Please do not continue to upload any beats that are flagged as this could lead to mayk.it account closure.
